ALMOST.

Hey... wait a minute... what's up with the triathlon comment? We triathletes have the benefit of also swimming and running, which allows us to have a better general conditioning and, as a consequence, be able to ride fast. So I need to defend our clan, we just train, and train hard, but most important, we find it fun to train hard. And that is why we ride fast. Simple training philosophy... at the end of the day it really is all about having fun. If we weren't having fun we wouldn't log 16-24 hours a week training!

Now, on a more serious note... my real training secret is aspiring to be as fast as Gerald, as nice of a guy as Jack, as resilient as Dale, as patient as Sam, as cool as Hollywood, as good looking as the Cannibal, as relaxed as Sean, as faithful and giving as Kevin, as constant as Mark, as chill as Bill, as wise as Alex, as able to put up with all this crap as the Boss... and of course, being able to burp as loud as Scooter. In other words... riding with CCC. Oh! And eating a lot of chocolate.

Francisco,

I was beginning to wonder if you'd ever take the bait. Very Happy

Awesome post, dude! Right now, I wouldn't mind having your running skills for cyclocross. My heart wants to explode when I have to jump off of the bike.

Gerald....please...please promise your CCC buddies and the world that you will not marry her......because we couldnt take what your kids would look like with her!! I shiver just the thought of it!!!! Be on the saft side just in case Mark gets you two together, and get yourself fixed. We know a good Dr. (Alex are you available? Oops, wrong kind of Dr.)

My best form was a few years ago. I rode with a guy who was twenty and fast as hell. I tried my best to keep up with him. We did hill work on Hilltop, and simply rode lots, like Eddy suggests. We did insane and stupid rides consisting of crazy long distances on fixed gears. (Now you have to wear jeans and carry a 50 lb. U-lock in your back pocket if you want to ride one. No thanks!) I rode my trainer often and made up my own spin class. It was very unscientific stuff. I'd warm up and then do interval sets while watching old TdF films on DVD.

My form has wavered here and there over the past few years, but the company I keep riding with the CCC has been consistently great. Well, there was that unfortunate incident at the Dam Store with Gerald, Scooter and that weird guy with the banjo, but I digress. Now, I'm working on easing back into the game. I've been laying low for the past few months and spending a lot of time with our new and improved family. I'm reading the new Carmichael book (thanks, Alex) and riding my trainer. I will need some structure now that I've got less time to ride and more gray hair.

working my way through the Time Crunched Cyclist now...

I plan to race next year and be in better form than I am now, which won't be too hard, as I'm in horrid form. ;)
