The Dice Man Cometh
With the re-opening of Shady Shores road, the crit racing was back in effect on the Tueday evening ride. A fairly fast ride tonight even though the tempature at the start hovered around 90 degrees with humidity and light winds. Dwayne "The Duke" was first over the top of the Col de Shady Shores on this evening as he put in a vicious attack 3/4 of the way to the top. In a sign of how strong the peloton has gotten through the Summer, it was gruppo compatto heading down Corinth Parkway. The Wrench and the Cannibal pulled the pack towards the finish line at 26mph as the pace continued to ratchet up. Dale was third wheel and had great position out of the wind looking to grab some Crit Points but Dice came around the outside and exploded out of the pack almost crashing in the process. He had a sizeable gap with the Boss and Cannibal trying to close. Whatever it was, it was effective. I must say that it was interesting to see an attack start with your bike at a 45 degree angle to the pavement.
