Reminder - Why We Wear Road ID's
My father rides with PACC, and sent me this today. Just a reminder... Earlier today, a team mate of mine at PACC, Geoffrey Rogers, while riding in McKinney, was struck by a pick up truck, moving at about 45 mph. Geoff was Care-flighted to Parkland Hospital. He has been intubated and will be kept heavily sedated until at least tomorrow. The injuries I know about are a broken arm, several broken ribs, misc. lacerations, and a head injury. Another member of the team saw him this afternoon, and was told by the nurse that he was responsive and was able to squeeze her hand and move his feet. Geoff took up riding a few years ago to lose weight and has lost somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 lbs. Geoff will be in the surgical ICU for the next few days. Geoff's family is located in Vermont, and hopefully, they can get here tomorrow. Please keep Geoff in your prayers. He's a good guy. When you ride, be careful, and wear your RoadID. It took a while to find Geoff in Parkland today, as he had no ID and was entered as "Zeta B", because they only had his cell phone. The guy who saw him this afternoon was able to update the records, so they knew who they had.

Some of in the Club know Geoff; for this reason, and for the more general point at issue, let's stay current with this distressing matter.

I wear RoadID on every ride, unless I have a race number pinned on. Even in rallies, despite the number. Phone number, blood type...very relevant info for a first responder if I can't tell them myself.

For those of you who do not know, Geoffrey is a major member of DORBA. :!: If you have ever been to a DORBA event you have most likely met Geoffrey. Very disturbing  to have yet another rider that I personally know get hit by an auto.
