Light Questions
I know nothing about bike lights. How many lights do I need? Is it better to get one that attaches to my helmet or to the bike itself? What type of light should I look to buy? How long will a light usually last before it needs to be recharged?

There are a lot of factors that go into this. 1. Are you going to be riding road, trail or combination? Road only (bar mount) Trail (Helmut mount or both) 2. How long and how fast you plan to ride will determine how powerful your light will have to be. Riding around at 5 mph. for an hour or so the cheep light at Wal-Mart will do. Other than that check out the multitude of lights for cycling starting at about $30 dollar to $800.00 depending on what you want to use it for. In my opinion for any speed of about 12 mph and over you will have to put out some change for a good light. A good place to start is on our group ride, there you will see different types of lights and mounts and normally there is enough light from other riders that you can ride with the group with little to no light of your own to see how it feels. Another good place to checkout would be area club web pages for someone wanting to sell a use one. You may find someone that has upgraded their old set or someone that didn’t care for riding at night. If buying a use light be careful of old worn-out batteries. They will not last very long and are expensive to replace. Hope this was helpful

This is a new line, and I don't know anything about them other than what I've read on their site. But what interests me is that they seem to offer a good value, i.e., plenty of pop and pretty good running-time w/out requiring a user to shell out as much as he or she would have to for HID lights, which are ridiculously expensive (and really great): http://www.dinottelighting.com/

Scottie, This will give you an idea of how some of the lights perform. http://www.mtbr.com/spotlight/lightshootout/
