Flyboy Foils Plan - Shoots Down The Wrench With daylight quickly fading, the Yellow Train had no time to waste as they rolled into Shady Shores. Never one to shy away from the front, Thrasher steamed into the lead and proceeded to pull the boys up the Col de Shady Shores into a stiff westerly wind.
Flyboy poured a gin and tonic, reclined in his seat and sat on Thrasher's wheel all the up the slope. Just before they reached the summit, Flyboy pulls around Thrasher and nips him at the top.
Around the loop again and up the Col for a second time. Thrasher put the hammer down this time up and was the first over the top with the Wrench glued to his wheel.
To the money line they headed as the group turned onto Corinth Parkway. Thrasher took his customary position at the front and led the Yellow Train towards the finish line. The group turned west into the setting sun and ran smack into a 15mph headwind.
Unbeknownst to the group, The Wrench and The Boss had hatched a strategy to attack the group 1/4 of a mile from the money line. The Boss was to attack with Wrench on his wheel and lead Jimmy out for the win.
The Boss attacks as scheduled and gaps the group. One problem...The Wrench is stuck. His interval training the night before has left him with rubber legs. Flyboy senses the hesitation and gases it. The Boss ditches the plan and now must fight for his life. Flyboy is on the wheel of the Boss and pulls even. Into the wind the warriors struggle as they lunge for glory. The Boss is able to nip Flyboy for the win and Thrasher takes 3rd. Another perfect night for a ride...

Can't believe how much easier it is to get up the hill when you're 10 lbs lighter. With daylight running out don't know if I'll see the end of a race this year or next. Still shedding pounds this week so I don't have carbs to burn, but that will be a good thing in the long run.
Yeeeeeeeeha got me a 5th place finish today. So what if there only 6 riders and 1 was lost - 5th place is still 5th place.

Another great write up by the boss :!: :D Don't know if I got The Wrench at the line or not :?: The Wrench blew a gasket right at the end and swerved right which happened to be right where I was. Needless to say I was to busy getting out of the way to see who actually cross the line first. :? I know it was really close so give it to The Wrench or we’ll just call it a tie. 8)

I disgraced a perfect leadout. (Thanks for the effort Boss) As a result I have disqualified myself as a sloth! 3rd place - undisputed - to Thrasher Tim. The kudos this day go to the Flyboy as he was the stonger (and/or smarter) GOM at this battle.

Aha...wrench = Jimmy. Always wondered, but didn't want to ask!
These reports are the highlight of my Wednesday and Friday mornings...
Great season all!
